Wat te doen in Valletta

Valletta is de hoofdstad van de republiek Malta en de zetel van de Maltese regering en het parlement. Het is de kleinste hoofdstad van de Europese Unie qua inwonersaantal. Valletta ligt op een schiereiland, omringd door twee grote natuurlijke havens. Het is een vooraf geplande stad, wat terug te zien is in het schaakbordpatroon waarin de straten zijn aangelegd. In de stad zijn vele gebouwen te vinden uit de tijd dat de Orde van Malta over het land heerste en deze is omringd met imposante vestingwerken. Sinds 1980 staat de stad op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO.

  Malta International Airport is the only international airport in Malta, and it serves the whole of the Maltese Islands. It is located on the island of Malta, southwest of the Maltese capital, Valletta, in the town of Luqa, and occupies the location of the former RAF Luqa. The airport serves as the main hub for KM Malta Airlines and Medavia besides being an operating base for Ryanair and its subsidiary Malta Air. It is also home to the Area Control Center and hosts the annual Malta Airshow. The airport is operated by Malta International Airport plc.
