The Amalfi lemons really are absurd, and everything here is made of them: granita from a cart, spaghetti al limone, a cold limoncello you did not order but will finish. Lunch is a lemon-shaded terrace and a carafe of something white, and it lasts until it stops being lunch. - 3
Out to Capri and back
The single moving day is a boat: out across the blue to Capri, past the Faraglioni rocks standing in the water like a gate, into the grotto if the sea is calm. You swim off the back of the boat, eat too much at a harbour table, and are home on your terrace by aperitivo. - 4
Up to Ravello, slowly
One afternoon you climb, by bus or a small hired car, up to Ravello, where the gardens hang off the mountain and the whole coast lays out below. You wander a villa terrace, sit through a slow hour of shade and view, and drift back down in time for the sunset spritz.
